Mr. Ferro, established Sand Hill Consulting Associates in 1988 to serve the Ophthalmic profession so each doctor may have every advantage, with respect to educational opportunity, technical awareness and practice enhancement opportunity, thus, in turn, each may best serve the patient.
Ferro has been in the ophthalmic industry for over thirty five years with a special concentration on the development of innovative diagnostic and surgical instruments. He has served as VP-Mktg-US and GM-Europe for Coherent, the leader in medical lasers.
He formed Sand Hill Consulting Associates in 1988. As founder and president, he managed several key distribution agreements, mergers and acquisitions, including the acquisition of Humphrey Instruments by Carl Zeiss of Germany. Subsequently, he served as Vice President of Marketing at Zeiss Humphrey Systems for four years where he played a key role in developing communication-networking procedures related to refractive surgery and vision correction. He was instrumental in the acquisition and, later, the introduction and positioning of OCT imaging systems in the global markets.
Since March 2005, Ferro has served in advisory positions, including with Bausch & Lomb and Hoya Surgical. He has assisted VC, Investment Banking and Private Equity firms. His consulting activities have helped guide several large, medium and start-up technology companies serving Optometry and Ophthalmology. He currently leads Sand Hill Consulting Associates in focusing on the development of business relationships, strategic alliances and key industry initiatives for advancing vision-care systems and innovative devices for the management of serious ocular disorders.
